Sad memories German club burned down

To the German Concordia Club
It is sad that you have burned down
to the ground
I heard of you when I go to folk fest
because this is where the German pavilion is
schnitzel bratworst these are sausages
roast pig, potato pancakes with apple sauce
I had the pleasure of having these
each day I went to folk fest
Another memory would be communicating
to either the volunteers or children
helping them figure out how to say
some phrases in German
For example
yes ja
no nein
please bitte
thank you danke

fires

On September 15th 16th
there were 3 fires
pyromania or arsonist
Someone decided to set the staff room on
fire in a high school, the masonic temple
where shriners go.
The fire that upset me was the German Concordia
club.
No thanks of no fire hydrant this was totally destroyed.
arson is suspected here
In the temple fire the fire dept said it was an accident but I don't
believe it.

Animal Abuse

Animal abuse is in different forms
I don't have a pet but I know about
animal abuse.
One form is not feeding the animal
no clean water
Making the animal sleep outside without
shelter
The shelter is to protect from extreme cold
or extreme hot.
I went on a tour at the SPCA a few times.
the tour guide mentioned they get animal
brought everyday 5000.
Unfortunately they have to put these to sleep
because there is no room.
Now they have adopt a pet sending them to loving home.
Recently a woman went in the store
left her dogs in a car with the window open a crack
One of the dogs died
and I think the other one did too
When the weather is hot never leave your
kanine or feline in a car that becomes like an oven.

The sky is blue

as well as clear,

I went for a walk taking pictures

On the river and across is the snow

which is very cold

however it was melting

I had a warm day to take pictures

Across the river is the Univerisity campus

where people go to school

some people become lawyers, doctors veterinarian

The Diefenbaker center is for the late John Diefenbaker.

The river poem

The river
As you can see by the picture
the river is fast, and the current
is wicked.
One should never play near the river,
or any area where they can fall in then get
caught by the eddy.
One should swim with the current not against it
if they are caught.
The picture on the left is the south Saskatchewan river in Saskatoon.
It doesn't matter any time of the year a person can drown. It can pull the strongest swimmer underneath.

Folkfest

I can hardly wait until
August 13th, 14th and 15th,
this is when folkfest will be here
again once more
I bought my passport
this is the admission on the bus
and to the pavilion
My favorite pavilion is the German
I have a clear idea of their food
and can speak the language
Last year I went to the German
then Scottish for the haggis
and Robbie Burns
The Ukranian pavilion for the perogies
and cabbage rolls.

In memory of my brother

In loving memory of Kelly
you passed away at age 30
Why you chose to die
I along with other people will never know
I forgot to put your memoriam in
the paper this will be 3 years.
I think of you
You would have been 45 years old
if you were still alive
I am hoping the city will grow out
so I can come to your grave
visit with you
Mom and dad will put a memoriam
in the paper on the day you died.

Taste of Saskatchewan

Last week was a taste of Saskatchewan
This occured in a park across from the court house
About 30 or 31 restaurants to place
One would pay for their food with tokens
For example for something to eat 2 tokens
a drink 1 token and a dessert 2 tokens
The weather was warm to hot
Attendance was up because of the nice weather
Such foods would be pizza, chinese food, ice cream
would be dessert.
I went about 4 or 5 days out of the 5 or 6
I didn't go on Sunday because I thought I would have
passed out.

To the families of Farrah Fawcett Majors
and Micael Jackson.
It is going to be a rough road ahead
With a lot of unanswered questions
The people who knew these two
will indeed miss them.

from Charlie's Angels
I had a Farrah Fawcett button
her hair idolized me to look after mine
Michael Jackson he was with the Jackson 5
He had songs like thriller, bad, black and white
rockin robin I will remember him
Bubbles his monkey will miss him too

Earth Day

April 22nd is Earth Day
This time is about finding ways
One of the ways is find solutions
to reduce pollution
Use mass transportation
to get to your destination
Or if you like
ride your bike
In this age
people are still throwing away too much garbage
Remember the 3 Rs
Reduce the amount the garbage you throw out
the smog we can do without
Recycle your old shopping bags
instead of throwing away plastic bags
Reuse clothes furniture people no longer want
paying a whopping bill at landfill is something no one wants

Spring time

The weather is spring
here is what it will bring.
Days are longer
sunlight is stronger
Weather being warm
the weather can still bring on a winter storm
Gardens and flower that grow
it's beauty will show.
Pelicans coming back to the river
how they stay afloat makes me shiver.
Grass and trees that become green
will be something of a beautiful scene.
People will be getting ready to go to the lake
after a long winter, people need a break.

Happy New Year for 2009

January 1st is New Years day
however I will say
that some people were out to celebrate
bringing it in, this would run late
Parties are everywhere
fun to have and share
however just remember
from January to December
Have a wonderful time
keep in mind drinking and driving is a crime.
So before you have that drink
its important to think
of the consequences
from any vehicle collisions.
